People must be familiar with four books of the Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and breaking Dawn. However, only some of the people know that there is one more book that is actually planned to be the part of the Twilight Saga: Midnight Sun. Unfortunately, little parts of the rough draft was posted illegally on the internet that made the author, Stephenie Meyer, came to a decision to discontinue the draft.
As well as other title of the Twilight Saga, Meyer used midnight sun as one of natural phenomena as the title of the book. This phenomenon usually occurs at the north latitudes and nearby to the south of Arctic Circle, as well as at south and nearby to the north of the Antarctic Circle. It happens during summer months and as it is explained by the name, this phenomenon allows you to see the sun in the middle of the local night. In simpler sentence, the sun is visible for 24 hours continuously. Some countries or territories that might be experiencing this phenomenon are countries that are crossed by the Arctic Circle, such Canada, Alaska (USA), Greenland (Denmark), Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, and Iceland.
Then let us back to the Midnight Sun created by Stephenie Meyer. Actually, this novel was expected to be the companion of the first book of the Twilight Saga, Twilight. This book was planned to have the same plot with Twilight from the perspective of Edward Cullen. Actually, surely it should be very interesting since it will be in contrary with Twilight that comes from the perspective of Bella Swan. Furthermore, this book should be quite different because Midnight Sun will be the only book to be rewrite based on perspective of Edward.
Unfortunately, public then found that the rough draft consisted of twelve chapters was illegally uploaded on the internet on August 28, 2008. For this reason, Meyer then decided to discontinue writing this novel. She stated that she could not continue to write Midnight Sun because she felt so sad about what was happened. Somehow, she thought that she would continue to work on this certain novel again when she was sure that people has been forgotten about this book.
Surely, the illegal uploading was a regrettable case due to the halt of the writing process of Midnight Sun. Hopefully, Meyer as the author will continue to work on this book again soon.
